While Jesus models perfect obedience to the Father, Peter and the Sanhedrin serve as examples of mistakes to learn from. When we follow Jesus at a distance, seek worldly acceptance over faithful witness, or are driven by our desires rather than guided by truth, we are playing with fire—just as Peter and the Sanhedrin did. Playing with fire might not burn you instantly, but inevitably, consequences come. Thankfully, when we fail, Jesus is faithful to heal and restore if we turn to Him.
