Peter isn’t making it up as he goes. Just as the Spirit enabled the disciples to speak in other languages (Acts 2:1-13), the Spirit now helps him to connect the dots of Pentecost with prophecy and prophecy with Jesus. In connecting the dots, the picture becomes clear: Jesus is both Lord and Christ. Once the picture is clear the pivotal question is how will you respond to Jesus?
